Sunny Reveals She Almost Walked Away Before The Finale and Her and Bear’s BIG Plans For The Future

Barry “Bear” Myrden and Sunny Long are finally letting the world in on their Golden Bachelor love story. In their very first interview as a couple, they spoke with Woman’s Day after months of keeping their relationship under wraps.

Sunny admits she never expected Bear to pick her. She’s overjoyed, but also relieved. She says that being chosen by him wasn’t enough, she needed to choose him too, and in the end, she feels like they found each other. Bear, for his part, knew almost from the start that Sunny was the one. Her energy, her joy, her fun, all of it just shone through.

He confesses that one of the hardest parts of the show was letting go of the other women. Saying goodbye was brutal, but he followed what was in his heart. Sunny recalls the emotional final moment in Cape Town, the wind, her tight dress, the wildness of the landscape, it all mirrored how they felt. Both joy and heartbreak were there. But she says she would not have traded that moment for anything. She says she has truly fallen in love with Bear.

At the end Bear gave Sunny a beautiful commitment ring. It is not officially an engagement ring, but she wears it proudly and they have not ruled out a more formal proposal in future.

Since filming ended, they have faced a strange few months. After their night together in Cape Town, they had to leave separately. Back in Australia, they met in secret, often checking into Airbnbs, arriving at different times, sneaking around windows, treating it almost like a spy mission. Sunny teases that Bear was her Mr Bond and she was his Bond girl. There was some excitement in the secrecy, but there was also strain. They were not permitted to publicly display their relationship while the episodes aired.

Watching the show back together was uncomfortable. Sunny says she cried when she saw Bear’s interactions with the other women, especially because she felt deeply for him and knew the kind of heart he has. She also says she considers many of the women eliminated from the mansion as friends now, but it still hurt.

Now that the finale is over, they are looking forward to living more freely. They speak every day, often twice a day, and they have even taken a few secret getaways. Sunny says the time apart while the show aired was hard, and they were just counting the days until they could be more open.

Looking ahead, they both want their life together to feel natural. Bear says neither of them is rushing. They want meeting each other’s families to happen organically. They are excited by the fact that their family values match: Bear’s three sons, and Sunny’s daughters Chloe and Penny, and son Keith, will all need to be woven into their future.

Sunny reveals that she almost walked away before the finale. She says there were moments when she felt overwhelmed, emotional, and not sure she could handle the pressure. But in Cape Town, when Bear told her he loved her, she says she felt like she was floating. When he used the word love, she says she just wanted to leap into his arms.

Her message now is simple but powerful: love can come at any age. It is never too late to find someone who makes your heart full.
