Crazy Rules You Didn’t Know The Bachelor and Bachelorette Contestants Have to Follow
You aren’t allowed to wear patterns.
Former Bachelor Sean Lowe revealed in his tell-all book, For the Right Reasons, that contestants can’t wear “stripes, small checkered patterns, big patterns, and solid white.”
You’re not allowed to interact off camera.
Sean also revealed in his book that there’s an “ironclad rule [of] no interaction off camera.”
You have to have a full psych evaluation
Were a few contestants not required to do this? Hello?
You’re not allowed to eat the food.
“Before we went on the date, the producers sent food to our hotel rooms,” says Sean. “We ate in our rooms and then went out for dinner, where we would be given beautiful food arranged nicely on the plate. This was just for show. No one looks good eating, and microphones pick up all kinds of chomping.”
You have to pack 14 rose ceremony dresses.
Also revealed by Sean in his tell all book.
All the contestants are required to take a std test.
It kinda makes sense. Fantasy suites, HELLO!
You don’t get to keep the ring. Unless..
The winner gets to wear the ring but it belongs to the show. If you break up in less than 2 years you have to return it to them.
You can’t say the word “process”
“Any time you call it a ‘process,’ they will make you re-tape it and say ‘journey,” Bachelor Sean Lowe told Glamour in an interview.
You aren’t allowed to use the AC.
That’s because of all the noise that would be caught on mic.
Contestants have to cook their own food.
“We have to do our own cooking, our own laundry. We do everything you would do when you’re at home, except be able to go outside of your home,” revealed by a former contestant.
(This rule applies only at the Bachelor mansion)
You have to be single when you apply.
Jed Wyatt clearly missed the memo.
You CANNOT spoil the show.
You have to pay a $5 million fine if you do end up spilling the spoilers.
Unless you’re Kaitlyn Bristowe.. ring a bell?
