Bryan Abasolo Finally Reveals the Real Reason He Divorced Rachel Lindsay

For years, Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo appeared to be one of the rare couples to actually make it work after meeting on The Bachelorette. But behind the scenes, their marriage was facing problems that fans knew very little about.

Bryan shocked Bachelor Nation when he filed for divorce from Rachel on January 2, 2024, after more than four years of marriage. The documents cited “irreconcilable differences,” while the couple’s separation was listed as December 31, 2023.

The split came as a surprise to many fans because Rachel and Bryan had spent years building a life together after meeting on her 2017 season of The Bachelorette. Rachel ultimately chose Bryan over Peter Kraus and the couple went on to marry in 2019.

But their relationship had reportedly become increasingly private before the divorce.

Rachel had previously acknowledged that people were constantly watching their social media activity and assuming something was wrong whenever they didn’t post each other. She explained that the couple had intentionally become more private about their relationship.

Then came the shocking divorce filing.

Bryan later spoke publicly about the breakup, describing it as a difficult decision and saying that sometimes loving yourself and your partner means knowing when it is time to let go.

He also confirmed the split in an Instagram post the same day he filed in which he suggested that it was his decision to divorce. “If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I don’t like to put my personal affairs on social media and like to keep a safe space for our family. Many of you know me as a chiropractor, and also as a husband, my proudest role so far. After more than 4 years of marriage, Rachel and I have made the difficult decision to part ways and start anew,” Bryan wrote. “My parents have been married forever and I’m a family man, but sometimes loving yourself and your partner means you must let go. I wanted to hear it from the source before the blogs start making up their own reality. Please respect the spaces of our family and friends as we figure out our next steps.”

Rachel, meanwhile, initially remained guarded about what had actually happened inside their marriage. She made it clear that she was taking things day by day rather than publicly revealing every detail of the relationship’s breakdown.

As the divorce proceedings continued, however, more details began emerging about just how complicated their split had become.

One major issue that came to light was money. Rachel later discussed how messy the divorce became and expressed regret over not having a prenuptial agreement.

The financial battle became one of the most talked-about parts of their divorce, adding another layer of tension to an already painful breakup.

And while fans continued searching for one single reason the marriage ended, the available accounts suggest that the situation was far more complicated than one explosive incident.

The couple had different perspectives on their marriage, their future and what ultimately went wrong. What once looked like a picture-perfect Bachelor Nation love story had quietly turned into a deeply complicated separation.

For Rachel, the end of the marriage eventually became about moving forward and reclaiming her life.

For Bryan, the divorce represented the end of a chapter he had once believed would last forever.

Their relationship may have begun with a televised proposal and a fairytale ending, but the reality behind the scenes proved much more complicated.

And perhaps the biggest takeaway from their breakup is that fans were never seeing the entire story. What happened between Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo was happening long before the divorce papers were filed—and much of it remained behind closed doors.
