Ashley Iaconetti is getting candid about motherhood, gender disappointment and the reason she has no plans to keep trying for a daughter.

The Bachelor Nation favorite recently opened up on social media about raising her two sons with husband Jared Haibon and addressed a question she apparently continues to receive from fans: Will she ever try for a girl?

Ashley and Jared’s love story began when they met during Season 2 of Bachelor in Paradise in 2015. Although their relationship didn’t immediately turn into a romance, the pair eventually found their way back to one another. They later got engaged during Season 5 of Bachelor in Paradise and married in August 2019.

The couple has since built a family of their own, welcoming their first son, Dawson, in 2022, followed by their second son, Hayden, in 2024.

Now, Ashley is opening up about something many mothers experience but may be hesitant to discuss publicly: gender disappointment.

Sharing a sweet video featuring Dawson helping with his younger brother Hayden, Ashley acknowledged that the subject can be complicated and emotional.

“I know gender disappointment is such a sensitive subject. I totally get why,” she wrote. “To have a healthy baby is the ultimate blessing regardless of if it’s a boy or girl.”

But Ashley also explained that many women grow up with a picture in their heads of what having a daughter might look like.

“I also know that so many of us women grow up imagining having a daughter to shop, dress up, gossip, and watch romances with,” she continued.

For Ashley, those expectations played a role in how she initially felt when she learned the sex of her first baby.

She revealed that she experienced some gender disappointment when she discovered Dawson was a boy. At the time, she imagined that having a second child would naturally mean having a daughter and that she would eventually experience the mother-daughter relationship she had pictured for herself.

“Admittedly, I had a few days of ‘gender disappointment’ when I found out Dawson (our first) was a boy,” Ashley admitted.

In her mind, having a son first meant that a daughter would have to come next.

“In my head it meant our second child must be a girl because I must have that mother-daughter bond…” she explained.

But everything changed once Dawson was born.

Ashley said that watching her son grow into a loving and affectionate little boy completely changed the way she viewed motherhood. Instead of feeling like something was missing from her family, she found herself completely fulfilled by her relationship with her son.

“After Dawson was born and blossomed into the most tender-hearted, sweet as pie little boy, I never thought about needing a daughter to feel satisfied as a mother,” she said.

And that realization became even more important when Ashley discovered that her second baby was also a boy.

Interestingly, she said the gender disappointment she experienced with her second pregnancy was actually much less intense than it had been with her first.

Rather than feeling as though she needed another pregnancy to have the daughter she had once imagined, Ashley had already learned just how special raising a boy could be.

“After having Dawson, I knew just how glorious it is to have a little boy,” she said.

That experience has also shaped Ashley’s answer to another question she regularly receives from fans: Would she and Jared ever have another baby in hopes of having a daughter?

Her answer is no.

Ashley made it clear that she and Jared do not want more than two children, and she doesn’t feel a need to keep expanding their family simply because they don’t have a daughter.

“We don’t want more than two kids,” Ashley stated.

She even joked that, if they did have a third child, she has a feeling it would be another boy anyway.

“In my bones I know a third would be a boy anyway,” she wrote.

And while Ashley admits she enjoys buying princess-themed gifts for her niece, she said that doesn’t translate into feeling like she needs a daughter of her own.

“I don’t feel a void not having a daughter,” she explained.

Ashley went even further, saying she doesn’t find herself imagining what life would have been like with a little girl.

“I never daydream of what it would be like to have a girl,” she said. “I am wonderfully content with my boys.”

For Ashley, motherhood has ultimately turned out to be less about the gender of her children and more about the individual people they have become.

She wanted to share the video of Dawson and Hayden because, to her, it captured exactly what makes her life as a boy mom so special.

Her sons, she explained, have their own unique ways of filling her life with affection and joy.

“My boys dance and sing to boy bands, they smother me with love… they fill my mom cup completely and then spill some. ❤️” Ashley wrote.

Her honest confession offers a glimpse into a side of motherhood that isn’t always discussed openly. Gender disappointment can coexist with immense gratitude for a healthy child, and Ashley’s experience shows how those feelings can evolve over time.

What she once viewed as something she might be missing has ultimately become something she no longer feels she needs.

Today, Ashley isn’t looking at her family and wondering whether there should be a daughter in the picture. She’s looking at Dawson and Hayden and seeing exactly what she wanted all along: a family that makes her happy.

And despite the questions from fans about whether she might eventually try for a girl, Ashley appears perfectly comfortable closing that chapter.

For this Bachelor Nation mom, two boys are more than enough — and she’s “wonderfully content” exactly where she is.
