Maria has filmed her intro and signed the contracts for the upcoming season of The Bachelorette.
The official announcement will of course be made on The Bachelor – After The Final Rose on Monday night.
Even though the majority of viewers called this season of The Bachelor “boring,” most of them tuned in for Maria, who played a large part in keeping the fans (and her fellow contestants) on their toes.
What does Maria have to say about leading a season?
“I always wanted to be on the show, but not once did I ever think I could get the opportunity to be the Bachelorette,” Maria said.
Maria told E! News that she’s been overwhelmed by the amount of support she received after her appearance on The Bachelor.
“I’m in awe of it,” she said. While she didn’t reveal if she’s in fact going to become The Bachelorette lead, Maria revealed, “Maybe the second time I’d do it better. And I would get my head in the game. Well, actually, I’d get out of my head.”
She also shared that she wasn’t in a good headspace while filming the show. Adding that she wished she “took a second to myself to take a couple deep breaths and tell myself, ‘Don’t do anything that’s going to jeopardize this.’ Hindsight is 20/20.”

Maria also took to Instagram to reflect on her journey with a lengthy message of gratitude.
“Wow. What an experience this was! I have nothing but gratitude and love for everyone involved. That’s including the amazing people I’ve met along the way. The love and support I’ve received has been incredible, I am truly in awe of it and it doesn’t go unnoticed. I can’t express enough how much it means to me,” she wrote via Instagram. “I want to thank my family and friends who have supported me through this journey, I want to thank Joey, who made the right decision and lastly, myself for staying true to who I am.”
Maria then went on to give a shout-out to Daisy Kent, Kelsey Anderson and Rachel Nance proving once again that she’s a girl’s girl.
“All 3 [women] equally deserve to be there and are there for a reason. Don’t send hate to anyone because of this!!” Maria continued, referring to fans angry that Rachel questioned why Maria pulled Joey aside at the rose ceremony. “I’ve personally grown so much from this it’s insane. I will continue to grow as I go. I want to thank everyone who has been watching and experiencing this process with me, you have seen me through it all. The good, the bad and the ugly. If you can take one thing from watching me it would be to always be yourself and know it’s ok to not always fit the mold. You won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but you’ll be someone’s shot of tequila. This experience was something I’ll never forget.”
“I didn’t get the man but I got the most amazing support behind me and for that I will be just fine. You all amaze me. It’s all happening.”
The other candidates were Daisy Kent, Lexi Young, Rachel Nance, Jenn Tran, and Rachel Recchia.
Joey Graziadei was recently asked to choose his favorite from the Bachelorette candidates for season 21.
The Bachelor said if he could pick a Bachelorette for the upcoming season, it would be Maria or Rachel!
Of the women that were present, definitely Rachel and Maria,” Joey tells Entertainment Weekly. “Those two, they have a lot to offer. They opened up a lot to me. It was exciting to know that I would get a chance to…write my own story after The Bachelorette. Both of those women deserve that.”
