Theresa Nist’s Shocking Tell All about Gerry Turner – It was too late to see red flags
Theresa Nist is finally speaking out about her shocking divorce from Gerry Turner.
Her work life played a major role in their split!
“I still work, so that’s the hurdle,” Theresa said on the “Dear Shandy” podcast.
She went on to explain that she did not expect to win the show, originally telling her work that she would only be gone a few weeks.
“I honestly thought, ‘Oh, let me just get through the first night,’” she started. “And I stayed and I stayed and I stayed, and my employer was so good to me. And before I left, I kind of said, ‘Don’t worry, I’m not going to leave you.’”
Theresa’s career was a big reason why the couple remained long-distance after their wedding in January.
“Until we decide on a place to really live, then I can really make a big decision to say, ‘OK, we’re going to live in this place or that place,” she said. “And originally, it was South Carolina. We’re still not sure if that’s what it is.”
Gerry and Theresa argued about her still working before they decided to split.
“I guess the difficult part is I went on to the show to find my partner, and I’ve been retired for a long time. I wanted fun & adventure. I wanted to go do things,” Gerry said. “So that is the crux of it, right now, is when does that start? I think the living arrangement is really secondary to the freedom of being able to go and enjoy life and do.”
He said before they announced the split: “That hurdle is still there, and right now, we’re dealing with it. It’s just something we’re gonna have to find a way around.”
Theresa Nist saw Gerry Turner’s ‘Red Flags’: ‘It Was Too Late’
“He lied about not being in a relationship after his first wife passed, which he only admitted to when the woman came forward,” the source tells Life & Style.
The insider went on to say that “it was too late” for her and she “was already head over heels in love.”
“It was a huge waste of time and it broke her heart, but she’ll get over it,” they revealed. “Theresa is definitely better off without him.”
Theresa also took to Instagram to break her silence on the divorce.
“To everyone who has expressed love, support and kindness to me I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are all such wonderful human beings,” she wrote. “It means the world to me that you took the time to reach out to me, whether in person, on the phone, by text or by direct message. You are all so kind to do so.”
She also had a message for the bachelor fans and “everyone else who is confused and angry and who does not understand,” urging them to “try a little kindness.”
“It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life, something I never expected to happen at this point in my life and I truly thought it was going to last forever. It turns out, even at the age of 70, you don’t know everything.”
“Sometimes things don’t go the way you planned and that’s okay.”
“I ask you to please stay open to all the experiences, opportunities, and love that may come your way. Keep smiling, keep laughing… I will. I love you all.”
April Warned Theresa About Marrying Gerry – Gives a Statement After Backlash
Golden Bachelor contestant and Theresa’s friend, April Kirkwood, commented on the formers Instagram post after the Golden couple announced they were getting divorced just three months after they got married.
“I wish you the very best,” April wrote in the Instagram comment section. “I truly tried to tell you, but this was your lesson to experience. Much love!”
She quickly apologized for her comment after facing some backlash from the Bachelor Nation.

“I would like to publicly apologize for my error in judgment. I sincerely meant no ill will,” April wrote. “I wish all women only peace and power to be their best selves. This was not the one for me. Much love and gratitude for understanding.”
Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist announced their split on Good Morning America, while adding that this decision was “mutual.”
However, sources close to Gerry’s circle claim it was in fact Gerry who wasn’t happy with Theresa.
“Gerry and Theresa are giving up on their marriage, but they both weren’t on the same page as they’d like you to believe,” reveals an insider source to Life & Style.
The insider also claimed it was Theresa who did the heavy lifting while trying to keep the flame alive.
“Yes, families and distance played a part, but Theresa really loved Gerry,” the insider claimed. “She wanted to work at it more than him.”
