Ben Higgins and Wife Jessica Clarke Welcome Their First Baby – ‘She’s Real Beautiful’

Ben Higgins and Jessica Clarke have welcomed their first baby together and shared the news on Instagram.

“Update and more to come but baby girl Higgins has entered the world. She is healthy. Jess is doing so well. I don’t yet have words for what just happened but the update right now is we have a daughter and Jess is recovering so well. The nurses and doctors who cared for us should be lifted high. Also I am biased but God spent a little more time on our baby girl because she’s real beautiful! This beauty will be revealed soon but first she needs a bath.”

Ben Higgins recently revealed that he was already certain about how he will react when his wife, Jessica Clarke, goes into labor for the birth of their first child.

“I’ve been very calm for the past nine months despite all the life changes, staying in ‘get things done’ mode,” he shared on the Almost Famous podcast. “I told [my wife] yesterday that as soon as we step into the hospital, everything I’ve been pushing back because it didn’t seem appropriate will come out, and I’ll probably be pretty on edge.”

He also admitted that he “could see myself passing out” during his wife’s labor, despite planning to “be up top” during the actual delivery. “That’s maybe where I’ll start to get queasy,” he said.

Despite his concerns about the birthing process, he went on to share that the couple have decided he will cut their baby daughter’s umbilical cord. “My dad did it for me, and I remember him telling me about it. I thought, ‘That’s pretty cool,’” he said. “I don’t necessarily want to. It’s not like, ‘Oh, I can’t wait to be the one to cut that.’ I think it’s going to be tough, mentally.”

The former Bachelor was thrilled about becoming a father, admitting to feeling a mix of excitement and apprehension.

Reflecting on the challenges of raising a daughter, he acknowledged, “With a girl, there’s 1,000 worst-case scenarios in my mind, and I know she’s gonna break my heart. She’s gonna break [my heart] because it’s so full.” Despite these concerns, he is eager to step into fatherhood, embracing every moment ahead.

He looks forward to bonding with his daughter through activities like tea parties and even letting her paint his nails, emphasizing his commitment to being a loving and supportive dad.

“I’m ready to be the guy that she leans on to talk to about boys, and I’m ready to be the example for who she desires in a relationship,” he shared.

One of his favourite rituals during Jessica’s pregnancy has been talking to their unborn daughter at night, a habit their dog, Waylon, seems to have picked up on, becoming unusually affectionate during these moments. Ben finds the reality of fatherhood both surreal and deeply meaningful, often reminded of it whenever Jessica returns home from work.
