We were all crushed when Ben Higgins sent Becca Tilley home on season 20 of The Bachelor.
Becca was recently a guest on Ben’s Almost Famous podcast that he shares with fellow franchise alum Ashley Iaconetti. He got a chance to tell her about his decision to eliminate her so close to the hometown dates.
“I knew that Lauren [Bushnell] was someone who was extremely special to me…that to bring Becca back to her hometown would have been so hard on her and her family,” Ben told Becca and Ashley on the podcast. “I saw how emotional it was for Nick Viall’s second hometown. My thought was…families don’t sign up for this.
If I could’ve taken Becca to Jamaica, I would’ve loved to. But it wasn’t right so I had to do the hard thing and send her home from Warsaw. That was a terrible situation. I could’ve probably done it better”
“I will say this, I did have to let Becca go and it wasn’t fun… she ripped me a pretty good one.” he recalled.
As for Becca, she joked that the producers kept her around until she finally broke down.
“I had been through Chris [Soules’] season being the cool girl… I didn’t cry and I went on Ben’s season and I think I was kept around until producers could get tears on me,” she jokingly told Ben and Ashley.
