10 ‘Bachelor’ Secrets From Emily Maynard’s New Book That Will Shock You

Emily Maynard, ex Bachelor winner from Brad Womack’s season and The Bachelorette star has decided to write a book, ‘I Said Yes: My Story of Heartbreak, Redemption, and True Love.

We bring you the 10 things she said in her book that will give you a different perspective about the show.

1- Brad Womack said THIS?

Emily wrote about what Brad said to her after the ‘magical proposal’ and after she said yes. “After I said yes, Brad scooped me up in his arms and said, ‘Wow, Em! You’re a lot heavier than you look.” Woah, buddy.

2- She DENIED the Bachelorette

After her breakup with Brad Womack, she was asked to be the Bachelorette. She flatly refused it. After Ben Flajnik’s season, the producers of the show offered her the show again and she took it because of the ‘growing loneliness’

3 –  No Contestant Could Talk To Her Without Permission

The next time you hear the words, Can I steal him/her” know that there is a long process the contestants have to go through to do that. Emily said the contestants would have to get the permission from the producers before they could talk to The Bachelor and The Bachelorette.

4- Producers Write Down Their Predictions

Emily revealed that the producers write down their predictions on who is going to win the show and who is going to be the runner up and get their heart broken.

5 – She didn’t want to get engaged on the show.

Emily went in to film the Bachelorette with absolutely no desire of getting engaged or married. She says “I truly did want to meet my husband, not necessarily get engaged but find someone who I could, one day, see the possibility of marrying” but that’s about it.

6 – Saying YES was a mistake

Emily also wrote about the first time she thought saying yes was a big mistake and she shouldn’t have done it. “The second I saw my sweet daughter, her long ponytail flapping in the wind, I knew I shouldn’t have gotten engaged,” she writes.

7 – She Met Her Current Husband Before filming The Bachelorette

Before she started filming for The Bachelorette, she met her current husband, Tyler at her new church. She wrote the last words Tyler said to her before she went on the Bachelorette. “Well, let’s keep in touch as friends then, and if you’re not engaged when you get back, we can get together or something.” He said.

8 – Brad Womack Got In Trouble For Giving Her Extra Validation

Brad Womack told Emily she would be getting a hometown date even before the Rose Ceremony took place. “All Bachelors and Bachelorettes were sternly warned not to spoil any surprises on camera. Brad got in trouble for this one…” she reveals.

9 – Group Dates Start At 9 in the morning

Well, we now know the reason some of these contestants get a little bit crazy during the group dates. Emily said that the group dates begin at 9 in the morning and would end “well after midnight”. Well, now y’all can start respecting Lace, right?

10 – A Sleeping Pill Situation

When she was a contestant on The Bachelor, Emily was so sleep deprived that she had to take a sleeping pill that put her in a funny situation the next morning. After taking the pill at 3 am, she was woken up by the producers only after 4 hours of sleep, leaving her in a “medicated stupor,” nodding off during Chris Harrison’s visit.  When the episode aired, she was just in the background.
